A potentiometer is used to handle the braking for opening /closing of the barrier. This will  ensure precious braking to be carried out and avoid any barrier boom from bouncing in the end position. In order to prevent unauthorised opening of the barrier, the boom is locked in position by a lever system. This is achieved with the motor running on low power. This power is dissipated in the form of heat, which prevents the occurrence of condensation and corrosion on the motor and inside the housing. This guarantees consistent operation of the traffic barrier even in extreme cold weather conditions.

Magnetic guarantees a Mean Cycle Before Failure (MCBF) of 5,000,000 cycles  and also provide a 24 months warranty for the whole vehicle barrier. Additionally Magnetic Control Systems has established a high reputation for after sales service and offers a 2 hour response time to areas inside the Klang Valley. A Service Hotline has also been established to handle service call after office hours.

In Malaysia, Magnetic supplied toll barriers to about 99% of the tolled highway such as the North-South Highway (from the north of Malaysia / Thailand border to the Southern Causeway into Singapore) as well as Litrak, Metramac, Sprint, Ampang Elevated Highway and Penang Bridge (the longest bridge in Southeast Asia) opened in 1985.
